We can Introduce NYC teens to organized handball promoting conflict resolution, team building and academic excellence.

Thanks to the generosity of handball mentor Eugene Woods, as a teen in Bedford Stuyvesant Brooklyn back in 1974, I was given the opportunity to improve my one wall handball game and experience 3 wall and 4 wall handball in private sports clubs such as Union Temple of Brooklyn, New York Athletic Club and the YMCA. It was a great experience that helped develop lifetime personal and professional contacts throughout the United States and Europe. Actually it was an awesome experience especially for a kid from the streets of Bed-Stuy.

I started Inner City Handball Association, Inc (ICHA), a 501(c)(3) charity, in 1991 to give that same opportunity to as many young handball athletes as possible. Since 1991, ICHA has served thousands of teen athletes.

Handball is a great sport with almost no corporate support. New York City had 2000 one wall handball courts but some are being torn down for other uses. If courts are not used they will ultimately disappear from the New York City landscape and NYC teen athletes will miss out on possible great lifetime experiences from being involved in organized Handball.

ICHA junior tournaments serve over 100 teens each event, at an organizational cost of at least $7,000.00 each tournament. Teens pay $15 or less per event and have access to a weekend of learning, healthy, competitive fun with their peers.

So I am asking you to help me reach my personal fundraising goal of $5000.00 to help fund junior one wall tournaments and expose NYC teens to 3 wall handball, 4 wall handball and the best that organized Handball has to offer.
